About Us
After 17 years working in the Civil Service I decided to take voluntary redundancy. With much thought I chose to have a complete change of direction and start my own business, an eco cleaning company called Bridget’s Eco Cleaning. As I have OCD, which mainly manifests itself in the urge to clean, I felt it was the career path I should follow as it qualifies me in providing a very thorough service!
I feel that the eco route is the way forward as using natural products ensures safety from all dangerous, harmful chemicals and allows an eco-friendly cleaning system for the entire home. This is especially useful for expectant mothers or for young children with asthma or allergies.
Biodegradable alternatives produce zero waste, cause less pollution, landfill and garbage patches in the ocean. Being eco-friendly means living in a way that is not harmful to the environment. This way of life is becoming increasingly important, as we need to protect our planet from man-made damage.
The products we use
We use a mixture of eco-friendly products that we have tried and tested in our own home. These include brands ENJO and Homethings.
ENJO is a sustainable, chemical-free cleaning range using just water and fibre cleaning products. It is patented fibre technology, which works effectively to loosen, lift, trap and remove dirt and bacteria.
The longevity of ENJO products is another bonus when it comes to ENJO’s green-cleaning status. The quality of ENJO cleaning products allows them to last far longer than any other cleaning brand available so their reusable nature helps you reduce household waste and carbon footprint.
Homethings are household cleaning sprays that are a sustainable alternative to big name brands. Tabletised, refillable bottles means single-use plastics are a thing of the past. The tab ingredients are non-toxic, vegan, cruelty free and lovely smelling due to an eco blend which includes natural essential oils. 90% of a typical bottle of cleaning product is water so it makes sense to switch to refillable household cleaning products.
5 million tonnes of plastic is used every year in the UK and plastic production is set to quadruple by 2050. So to clean up a single-use plastic habit it means just filling up the Homethings bottle with tap water and dropping in a tab - time and time again. By transforming water based cleaning products into tabletised ones, water being shipped around the globe is avoided and emissions from this transportation is reduced.
A greener way to clean
ENJO products replace harsh chemicals with fibre technology. The unique fibres are extremely fine, wedge-shaped and use a capillary action to lift, draw up and trap dirt.
This patented fibre technology allows ENJO products to clean more effectively than chemicals where water acts as a solvent to loosen, dissolve and weaken dirt particles. ENJO's ultra-fine strands form a unique wedge shape to lift, trap and hold onto dirt leaving you with a safer, healthier and better clean.
ENJO Fibres are superfine (100-times finer than a human hair) and each superfine fibre is wedged shape for optimal loosening and lifting of dirt and bacteria. The way ENJO weave their fibres is patented, meaning it’s completely unique, and each product has a slightly different composition of fibres and a slightly different weave to suit the cleaning surface and purpose.
Some important benefits
Indoor air quality is important because it can directly impact your health. Studies have shown than indoor air can be five times more polluted than outdoor air, which means we’re breathing in chemicals and pollutants while we’re sleeping, eating and relaxing at home.
Poor indoor air quality can cause immediate short-term health effects such as irritation to your eyes, nose and throat which can have a really big impact on people with pre-existing conditions such as asthma and allergies. Poor quality air in your home could also lead to headaches and tiredness.
In the long-term, poor indoor air quality has been linked to respiratory diseases, heart disease and cancer. The air inside your home can be compromised by a range of contaminants including chemical pollutants, mould, dust, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), pet dander and odours.
Traditional chemical cleaning products pollute the air and can act as an irritant to people who suffer from asthma symptoms. Fortunately, your entire kitchen can be cleaned without a single harsh chemical, meaning a clean kitchen and clean air.
Some of the more potent chemical cleaners are reserved for use in the bathroom (which can lead to a cleaning mistake you don’t want to make). Using toxic chemicals in such a small space can really pollute the air quality and pose other potential health and environmental risks. Replace harsh chemicals with the reusable fibre cleaning range to keep your bathroom clean with just water and zero harsh chemicals.
Even though there are ways you can minimise dust in your home, household dust can’t be avoided and is a big pollutant to indoor air quality. ENJO’s range of dust-magnet cleaning products aren’t like any other dust-cleaning solution on the market and have been proven to remove dust more effectively.
It makes sense to use Bridget's Eco Cleaning for you, your family and your home. It's a greener way to clean 🌎
